AdEPorto organizes the At the Speed of the Sun’ project ‘ to celebrate the Energy and Environment Week 2022

AdEPorto – Agência de Energia do Porto will promote, within the scope of the Energy and Environment Week (SEA) 2022, the XII Edition of the At the Speed of the Sun initiative, which involves the construction of solar carts and the participation of these vehicles in municipal and intercity races.
Promoted among 3rd cycle, secondary and professional schools in AdEPorto's Associated Municipalities (Gondomar, Maia, Matosinhos, Paredes, Porto, Póvoa de Varzim, Santo Tirso, Trofa, Valongo and Vila do Conde), this project aims to catalyze the interest of young competitors in the technologies used in the conversion of renewable energy sources.
Specifically, more than 370 students and 50 teachers from schools in the Porto Metropolitan Area north of the Douro River were involved in the construction of around 90 Solar Carts during the school year. The carts will now compete in the various municipal races, which will take place from the 23rd to the 27th of May, according to the schedule present in the project’s poster. At a later stage, the fastest cars will compete in an Intermunicipal Final, taking place on the 30th of May.
Celebrated annually by AdEPorto and the partner municipalities, SEA also aggregates the celebrations of the National Energy Day (May 29) and World Environment Day (June 5).
